Alongside the Stadtwirtschaft, the garage campus is one of the major intervention areas of the European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025. The former depot and tram depot of Chemnitzer Verkehrs AG (CVAG) in the Kappel district offers a lot of undiscovered potential. The entire area is to be further developed into a central cultural location. The listed building complex is to achieve sustainable local and regional significance and at the same time become a place with supra-regional and European appeal. By converting and further developing the existing architectural and spatial situations, a long-term, meaningful, sustainable and inclusive cultural location is to be created for the district, the city, the region and Europe. The Chemnitz Tram Museum and the Clock Museum will remain at the site.
