Urban Art in Rural Industrial Culture

More and more young people are moving from the village to the city and the cultural offering in rural areas is decreasing at the same time. Social events and cultural activities in the countryside are becoming increasingly important. This philosophy is also represented by the UW Etzdorf cultural network, which is based in an abandoned substation in the idyllic Striegistal. Young artists from rebel-Art and the European Art Community association work there on a voluntary basis to preserve this historically valuable object. In addition to space for exhibitions and events in different event areas, there are various guest studios for young and established artists. In addition, a permanent exhibition by the RAGalerie is currently being set up on the extensive site. The focus will also be on the history and future of Central Saxony's energy supply and, in line with the object, will be illuminated in the future with the help of experiments and visual objects. With the aim of developing a cultural hotspot in rural areas, a piece of the Capital of Culture is also being brought to the countryside here.
