EUJA Goblins

Grüne Bubble für ÖA - Stawi

Inviting you to explore: the EUJA goblins

Since the summer of 2026, you can spot the EUJA goblins at Stadtwirtschaft. The four friendly and extremely adventurous little creatures—Rosty, Horizontie, Speedy, and Funken-Lene—have reportedly been living on the grounds at the lower Sonnenberg for over 130 years and have witnessed the changes of the past decades firsthand.

They know everything...

The EUJA goblins really know their way around the area. Through ten panels of text and images, they recount the history of Stadtwirtschaft—but they also have quite a bit to say about the present. Anyone who follows in their footsteps can learn a thing or two—and all without a guided tour.

On land, on water, and in the air

Above all, though, guests at the Stadtwirtschaft can have a lot of fun with the EUJA goblins. That’s because they pop up in the most unexpected places—literally on land, on water, and in the air. It’s worth exploring the courtyards of the Stadtwirtschaft—and be sure to look up every now and then...

But most of all, the EUJA goblins love it when you take photos with them and share the pictures on social media with the hashtags #Stadtwirtschaft and #EUJAKobolde!

The Midwives

Of course, the EUJA goblins never really went away. The fact that they’re making a comeback is thanks to the duo Bernd Maile and Anton Riedl.

Author Bernd Maile has 30 years of storytelling experience as an author and head writer for all major TV networks and production companies in the television industry, including "Die Wochenshow," "Switch Reloaded," and "TV Total." He has taught courses on screenplay analysis, dramatic writing, and comedy writing. He is the creator of “Grundgesetz Girl” for the show “Die Sendung mit der Maus.”

Graphic designer Anton Riedel has been the creative director of Feedme, an animation and illustration studio for TV and film productions, for 25 years. As an illustrator, he is responsible, among other things, for the illustrations in the Spiegel bestseller series “Ungeheuer...” as well as for “Die Geisterkicker.”

Together with the Stadtwirtschaft team and with funding from the EUJA! program of the City of Chemnitz and Chemnitz European Capital of Culture 2025 gGmbH, they lured the EUJA goblins out of their hiding places.
