Garagen-Campus Chemnitz

Alongside the Stadtwirtschaft, the Garagen-Campus is one of the major development sites for Chemnitz 2025, the European Capital of Culture. The former maintenance yard and tram depot of Chemnitzer Verkehrs AG (CVAG) in the Kappel neighborhood offers a great deal of untapped potential for redevelopment.

The entire site will be redeveloped into a central cultural hub. The historically protected building complex is intended to gain sustainable significance at the local and regional levels while also becoming a place with supraregional and European appeal. Through the repurposing and redevelopment of the existing architecture and spatial configurations, the goal is to create a culturally significant, sustainable, and inclusive cultural venue for the neighborhood, the city, the region, and Europe.

The Chemnitz Tram Museum and the Clock Museum will remain at this location.
