America Day in the Stadtwirtschaft

Personal encounters, cultural exchange, and open interaction—that is the goal of "Meet the USA." The event is organized by the City of Chemnitz in collaboration with the U.S. Consulate General in Leipzig.

Program

3:30 p.m.: Coffee and cake with Sven Schulze, Mayor of Chemnitz; Consul General Jodi Breisler; alumni; and current scholarship recipients of transatlantic exchange programs (please RSVP at ta@dai-sachsen.de)

4:45 p.m.: Public roundtable discussion on current issues in German-American relations with Laura-Louise Scheller, a representative of the Federal Foreign Office, and Prof. Dr. Kai Oppermann, professor for International Relations at Chemnitz University of Technology

5:45 p.m.: Program in the Stadtwirtschaft event yard featuring live music, literary readings, and the opening of the Stadtwirtschaft basketball court with youth players from the Niners Chemnitz, accompanied by the Municipal Music School’s Big Band and The Soldiers Chorus

7:00 p.m.: Wine tasting with the Chemnitz Adult Education Center and information on viticulture in California (Register at www.chemnitz.de/winetasting)
