Knowledge Makes Theater
URANIA conveys knowledge on a wide variety of topics in a playful way—through puppet shows for young audiences
Take an exciting story, a mobile stage with specially handcrafted puppets and lovingly designed sets, add puppeteers who love to perform, spice it all up with a strong dose of knowledge, and mix in the audience’s clever ideas through free improvisation.
The result is a theatrical experience of a special kind, because at URANIA, the motto “Knowledge Makes Theater” is taken very seriously. This is evident not only in the themes underlying the original plays but also in the fact that audience members of all ages are actively involved in the action on stage, making them an integral part of the story. In this way, children learn in a playful manner and can test their own knowledge.
URANIA, founded by Ivonne Fischer and Andreas Henz, was among the first groups to use Building D of the Stadtwirtschaft and has remained loyal to the location. Here, they rehearse, tinker—and occasionally put on performances. In addition, the ensemble regularly performs at daycare centers and schools, as well as at celebrations and festivals throughout Germany.
