The First Time
Even a year after its opening, there are still often “firsts” to experience in the Stadtwirtschaft. This was also the case on Urban Development Day on May 9.
- The first exhibition in our new showroom in Building B, featuring the intervention spaces for Chemnitz 2025. By the way, you can use the space at any time for your own exhibition projects or product presentations.
- The first beer tasting session with our user Braubox Chemnitz—it was delicious!
- The first practical test for our new flexible furniture, designed at the Schneeberg Faculty of Applied Design and adapted and manufactured by Holzkombinat Chemnitz and Stadtfabrikanten Chemnitz. Passed!
- The first chocolate tasting hosted by our user FAUCH SCHOKI in front of his new workshops—by the way, we still have a few ground-floor workshop spaces available, ranging in size from 60 to 160 square meters.
- And then there was also the wonderful tapestry from #3000Garagen, part of Chemnitz 2025, European Capital of Culture—which visitors could admire here for the first time.
On top of that, there were hands-on activities organized by CLARO!, Marina Klavina, Gründungsgarage, ERIKA e.V., and the FabLab, guided tours of the grounds, presentations on the future design of Sonnenberg, and a few conversations here and there—it was a wonderful time. The next event kicks off on May 23 with “Hang zur Kultur” and the first anniversary of the Materialinitiative Zeux.
