A Real Treat for Us
On September 6, 2026, the key players in the Stadtwirtschaft celebrated their second courtyard festival. They introduced themselves to the neighborhood through a variety of hands-on activities, concerts, exhibitions, and culinary delights—1,200 visitors attended.
The "Himmelblau" interactive circus and the lively play area "lebendiges Spielhausen" by Taupunkt e.V. for the little ones—bingo, a prize wheel by Ingo Scheller, and an auction for the grown-ups. Rock music by Red Mess from Brazil, Chemnitz hip-hop by Big Buddha, and electronic dance music by Freuth. Freshly poured chocolate at Fauch Schoki, popcorn from the Stadtfabrikanten, and cookies at the Gründungsgarage for those with a sweet tooth—on-site brewed beer from Braubox, vegetarian burgers from the canteen, and wraps from El Mina for those who prefer savory options. Highly tuned "Oldies" for motorsports fans or hands-on recycling with the Materialinitiative Zeux. Here, ERIKA e.V. is printing on paper and textiles in the writing and printing workshop while CLARO! is in the world of 3D printing. View art at Marina Klavina’s exhibition. And create your own art by painting at an easel at the Kunstfabrik Chemnitz. Get information on a guided tour of the Stadtwirtschaft or take a quick breather on the Fleximöbel. Dance to the beat in a salsa class, then just hang out on lounge chairs, hammocks, and bike racks. Carefully unearth fossils at the Chemnitz Museum of Natural History or scale the bouldering wall with a firm grip. Get to know Europe direct. A year and a half after the site opened, the Stadtwirtschaft is home to such a diverse array of initiatives, associations, companies, band projects, and individual contributors—as well as the neighbors participating in the program—that the courtyard festival “Vom Wimmeln und Wuseln” truly had something for every visitor: whether to join in or watch, to try things out or listen, to enjoy or discover. The second run of the festival, which took place between 2 p.m. and—yes, with a few slight delays on stage—9 p.m., had a correspondingly relaxed atmosphere.
It was a real treat for all the key players—we’d like to thank everyone who came with curiosity and went home feeling happy, perhaps a little in awe, and with respect for the work that was done. There will definitely be a next time!
