Our First "Hang zur Kultur"
In 2026, the Stadtwirtschaft participated for the first time as a host venue, alongside local key players, in the Sonnenberg neighborhood’s long-standing festival—the “Hang zur Kultur” (which means an appreciation for culture).
It was a special pleasure to be the final stop of the colorful opening demonstration “More Flowers Instead of Concrete” on May 23—about 200 participants were thus immediately guided onto the “right path” to Stadtwirtschaft. In the courtyards, the demonstrators and all other guests of “Hang zur Kultur” were welcomed with, among other things, creative activities by ERIKA e.V., an art exhibition opening by Marina Klavina, chocolate-making classes by Fauch Schoki, STEM puzzles and maker activities by CLARO!, and, above all, Zeux’s birthday party. The Chemnitz Materialinitiative has been based at Stadtwirtschaft for a year now—congratulations!
It was also wonderful that the event provided another opportunity to explore new avenues: In the spirit of good neighborliness, the Zietenaugust community garden had also put together a program celebrating culture and opened the newly created passageway from Zietenstraße through the garden to the Stadtwirtschaft—and this certainly won’t be the last time...
