Stadtfabrikanten Chemnitz

FabLab Chemnitz is the flagship project of Stadtfabrikanten e.V., which was founded in 2016. The members come from a wide variety of educational, age, and social backgrounds. Together, they see themselves as a kind of infrastructure provider and a vibrant, democratic network. To this end, the association offers, through FabLab Chemnitz, an open and well-established platform and venue that facilitates the exchange of creative ideas and promotes the implementation of the ideas that emerge from these exchanges.

The association provides access to knowledge about machine-controlled manufacturing, traditional crafts, and general technology-related topics, as well as methods, tools, and machines—both traditional analog methods and digitally supported ones: At FabLab, people collaborate to develop, tinker, experiment, and test, and they explore and engage with a wide variety of materials—such as 3D printing, wood, metal, plastic, textiles, and electronics.
